New Website Feature Highlights 75 Year History

West Basin continues a year-long celebration of its 75th anniversary with an enhanced history webpage. The web feature serves as a resource for community members to learn more about the District and its role in securing water for its service area communities.

The enhanced history page includes a timeline feature that showcases major historical milestones, such as the first delivery of imported water from Northern California in 1972 and the completion of the West Basin Water Recycling Facility in 1995 (later renamed the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility).

Visitors are encouraged to view the full timeline, which features a comprehensive legal and operational history of the District throughout its various chapters:

  • 1850s – 1950s “Formation and the Early Days”
  • 1960s – 1970s “Protecting Groundwater”
  • 1980s – 1990s “Drought and Local Supply”
  • 2000s – 2010s “Diversification of Supply”
  • 2020s – Present “Securing Our Water Future” (new!)

West Basin has a rich history of developing a reliable supply of water for the communities it serves and  is dedicated to securing our water future for the decades ahead.
