2023 Water is Life Student Art Contest
West Basin fosters student creativity and helps teachers put the Art in STEAM education by hosting the annual art contest! Student artists help inspire their communities to support water conservation as a way of life by creating eye-catching artwork with smart water use slogans.
Eligibility: Students in the 3rd – 12th grade, must attend school in the West Basin Service Area

Classroom Art Lessons
In-person art lessons are fully booked through March. Limited virtual art lessons may be available, depending on the request. Please e-mail education coordinator Janel Ancayan at janela@westbasin.org. Availability is not guaranteed.
Prizes
15 student winners (one grand prize winner and four honorable mentions in each elementary, middle, and high school grade category) will be selected by a panel of judges in April. Each winner will be awarded a new Apple iPad, with Grand Prize winners additionally receiving a digital stylus pen and $25 Apple Store gift card.

WEST BASIN STUDENT ARTISTS FEATURED IN 2023 WATER IS LIFE ART CALENDAR
Three student artists from the West Basin service area were selected by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) for creating water conservation-themed artwork that will be featured in MWD’s Water is Life 2023 calendar. View a digital version of the calendar here.
The following West Basin area student artists were among 37 total student artists in Southern California to be featured in the 2023 MWD Water is Life calendar:
